Welcome

Welcome to the Aslib KIMNET web site. KIMNET stands for 'Knowledge and Information Management Network'. We are a community of interest focused on the practical issues of managing knowledge and information. We invite you to browse this public area of our site and to discover more about us.

KIMNET (formerly the Aslib IRM Network) is a community of interest involving professionals from a wide range of disciplines in a common quest to learn more about the effective management of knowledge and information.

Networking

As well as providing an opportunity to hear the opinions and advice of prominent experts and commentators, our Open Meetings are intended to provide an informal and friendly environment in which to share our experiences of information and knowledge management with fellow members. Every Open Meeting is followed by an 'after hours' session where members can chat informally over a glass of wine or other light refreshments.

Open Meetings

We pursue this aim primarily through our Open Meetings held in January, March, May, July, September and October each year. Each Open Meeting features a noted speaker on an aspect of KM (Knowledge Management) or IM (Information Management). Past speakers have included such people as David Snowden, Victoria Ward, David Skyrme, Liz Orna and William Hann of Free Pint.

Our Web Site

Our Web Site provides information to non-members who may be thinking of joining KIMNET and, through the Members' Area, provides members with access to our Resource Centre, Discussion Forum and Members Directory.

Resource Centre
The Resource Centre includes Meeting Reports and Presentations from most of our previous meetings, many of which may be downloaded, as well as a wide range of references (online and offline) to items in our field of interest.

Members Directory
The Members Directory is a fully searchable directory of all current KIMNET members. Subject entirely to individual members' wishes, it contains postal, telephone and email contact details, as well as a brief biography and indications of a member's interests and expertise. The Members Directory is designed to facilitate networking among members independently of our bimonthly Open Meetings.
